If you are considering and electric car, you probably know that it is going to be different that driving a gasoline car. Buying a car is always a big investment and you want make sure it is a good purchase. Well, it sure is! As someone who has driven an electric car for over seven years, let me give a very simple top three reasons to get an electric car.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
More fun to drive.<\/strong> Electric cars have two advantages over gasoline cars. The first is they accelerate much faster than gasoline cars. The fastest cars in the world now from 0 to 60 miles an hour are all electric. With an electric car you can zip onto the freeway or from a red light much faster than a gas car. You can even accelerate so fast it will press you and your passengers back into the seats like a rocket. They also handle well on windy roads because the heavy battery is mounted on the bottom. This gives them a low center of gravity. Keeping the center of gravity low allows easy turning without the car starting to tip over.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Saving Money. <\/strong> Electricity is much cheaper for your car compared to gasoline. I have found charging my electric cars cost about a third of gasoline.<\/em> This is just an estimate. Electricity prices and gasoline prices can vary quite a bit over time and in different areas. But for me, I have saved a ton of money over the years switching to an electric car. For me that has been about $800 a year in just savings from not buying gasoline. Also the savings from maintenance are also huge. There are no annual $1000 maintenances, oil changes, smog tests etc. The repair cost savings are also huge. Electric cars have one third of the number of parts as gasoline cars. They are much more reliable. In the seven years I have owned electric cars, my only repairs have been three flat tires. That\u2019s it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Saving the planet<\/strong>. I just had my first baby grandson. I want to leave him with a wonderful world he can enjoy. For me, this means no poisonous exhaust from my car, leaking oil onto the streets and streams, drilling for and refining gasoline. All of these oil based issues make communities and world less healthy. Even spilling some gasoline on your hands while pumping is unhealthy.
